1 PETER 1:22-2:5
With the intention of starting over, I rearranged my room. Bags of goods waiting to be recycled, distributed, or thrown away were waiting outside the front door after hours of cleaning and sorting. However, the result of this tiresome effort was a stunning space that I could not wait to use.
The housecleaning project provided a fresh perspective on 1 Peter 2:1, which encourages a clean house and a clean sweep of harmful habits. After a joyful confession of their new life in Christ, Peter urges Christians to discard destructive habits.
As real as our new life in Christ is, bad habits learned do not disappear overnight. We require daily cleansing and discarding of bad habits that hinder love and growth. This clean space allows us to experience the wonder of being freshly built by Christ’s power and life.
🙏Heavenly Father, thank you for the new life you are building in us through our Lord Jesus. Help us to turn to you daily for cleansing and renewal.
