HEBREWS 3:1-13
Giant concrete fingers partially buried in sand reach out toward the sky on a sandy beach in Uruguay. This is known as the Monument to the Drowned. La Mano, or “The Hand,” is how the locals refer to it. It was designed by Chilean artist Mario Irarrázabal in February 1982 as a caution to swimmers. Although “The Hand” has become a tourist attraction, its original purpose was to remind swimmers of the dangers of the sea.
The Bible contains its own set of cautionary signs. The book of Hebrews, in particular, warns about the dangers to the soul.
Our Bible text is set in the context of a review of Israel’s unbelief and disobedience in the wilderness. The spiritual concept applies today, even though this occurred centuries before the book of Hebrews was written. We are to encourage one another to resist the hardening of our hearts that occurs as a result of sin.
We are given warning signs for our own protection. Because of His immense love for us, God has given us cautionary reminders in His Word.
🙏🏼Thank You Lord for the warnings in Your Word that are meant to keep us safe and secure.
