CARICATURE OF GOD

EXODUS 34:1–9; NUMBERS 14:18

Caricature artists in public spaces sketch people willing to pay a small fee for a humorous portrayal of themselves.

Caricatures of God are not funny and often lead to a distorted view of Him. People often dismiss these distorted images, as they are not taken seriously. For instance, those who see God as an angry judge may be drawn to those who emphasise mercy, while those who see God as a kindhearted grandfather may reject this image. Those who view God as an intellectual idea may find other ideas more appealing.

God affirms in Exodus 34:6-7 that while He is kind and merciful, He is also just in punishing the sinful.

We should refrain from depicting God as possessing just our preferred qualities while we live out our beliefs. Not only what we enjoy, but all of God, must be worshipped.

🙏Thank you, Lord, for who you are and what you do.
