MARK 10:28-30
The only way businesses can survive is if they generate more profit than loses. Profit typically means your business is financially well off. Losses might start slowly, but your business could find itself missing a larger chunk than it can withstand.
Jesus assured His followers they would have an unbelievable return on investing their lives in Him. His disciples had left everything to follow Him and put their lives on deposit to do His business (v. 28), but they grew concerned that their investment might not pay off after watching a wealthy man struggle with the hold worldly possessions had on him. Jesus replied, however, that anyone willing to sacrifice for Him would “receive an hundredfold now in this time…and in the world to come eternal life” (v. 30). That is a far better outcome than any business could ever match.
We do not have to be concerned about the “profit level” on our spiritual investments with God, it is an incomparable certainty. With money, our aim is to maximize the financial gain from our investment. With God, what we get back is not measured in naira or dollar, but in the joy that comes from knowing Him now and forever – and sharing that joy with others!
