ACTS 1:1-11
When we need to call repair men to have our household appliances fixed, they say something like, “I will be there between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.” We are stuck waiting because we have no idea when they will show up.
Jesus informed His disciples that He was about to depart from them and that they should wait for His return in “a little while” (John 16:16). They hoped that when they next met Him, following His resurrection, He would be establishing His kingdom on earth. However, He told them that they were not to know the times or seasons that the Father had ordained (Acts 1:7). They would have to wait even longer.
However, they were not just supposed to wait. Jesus instructed His followers to serve as His witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). In order to enable them to achieve this, He also gave them the Holy Spirit.
Jesus’ return may still be a way off. In the strength of the Holy Spirit, we take great pleasure in letting others know who He is, what He accomplished for us all through His death and resurrection, and that He has promised to return.
Until Jesus returns, wait and witness.
🙏Lord, let our lives to be a witness
of Your goodness and grace. Please use
us in ways we never thought possible.
