1 PETER 2:11–17; 3:8–9
A sheriff in a community often uncooperative with law enforcement emphasised that they are human beings who work with people in crisis. The best response to humans in crisis is to be human, as it is what God Himself did when He sent His Son to help us.
According to Peter, the greatest way to deal with people during a crisis is to remember who we are as humans and to act accordingly (Peter 3:8). Peter was insisting that we remember that people are people no matter what.
Our human status can be a source of temptation. Jesus teaches us to live fully as humans, but also acknowledges that we are all created in His image.
People with a variety of challenges are likely to be encountered today. When we respond graciously, as fellow people who assist other humans in times of need, just think of the difference we might create.
🙏 Lord, help us to be human so we can reach out to humanity.
