GENESIS 14:17–24
Samuel Foss’s quote, “Let me live by the side of the road and be a friend to man,” encourages us to be friends with people. We should stand by the way, waiting for weary travellers and those who have been wronged. We should nourish and refresh them with encouraging words, leaving them with a blessing.
Melchizedek, the king of Salem and a priest, blessed Abram upon his return from battle, demonstrating that blessings are more than just polite responses; they are a direct message from the source of blessing.
A true friend can bless others by praying with them and providing them with grace and help during times of need, despite not being able to change their circumstances.
🙏Jesus, teach us to be friends with people as you are. Give us eyes to see others and their needs and to take the time to listen. Help us to take them to you, the source of life.
