PSALM 46:1–11
Daniel Levitin, author of The Organized Mind: Thinking Straight in the Age of Information Overload, warns that the constant bombardment of news and knowledge has led to a hyperstimulation of our minds, making it increasingly difficult to find time for quiet reflection, thought, and prayer in today’s media-driven environment.
Psalm 46:10 emphasises the importance of a “quiet time,” as it is a crucial part of our daily lives.
The realisation that God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble (v. 1), as experienced by the Psalmist, drives away fear (v. 2), turns our attention from the chaos of the world to God’s peace, and fosters a calm trust that our Lord is in control (v. 10).
The love and power of our heavenly Father can supply us with strength and peace of mind, no matter how chaotic the world may become around us.
🙏Heavenly Father, we bring our busy lives and cluttered minds to You. Help us to learn to be still and recognise that You are God.
