BE MINDFUL OF YOUR FOCUS

1 CORINTHIANS 3:1-9, HEBREWS 12:2

I once overheard a woman refer to someone with so much pride as her “disciple.” Everyone of us who follow Christ has the responsibility of making disciples—teaching others about Christ and assisting them in developing their spiritual lives. Although it can be easy to put Jesus aside and concentrate on ourselves.

Concerned that the Corinthian church was drifting away from Christ, the apostle Paul wrote to them. Instead of following the Saviour, they had started focusing on the wrong people: the teachers. Paul corrected them, however, by pointing out that only God can provide the growth; it is irrelevant who planted and who waters. Christians are “God’s building and field” (1 Corinthians 3:6–9). The believers in Corinth did not belong to Paul or Apollos.

By concentrating on Christ, who is greater than any human individual, we honour Him.

🙏🏻Lord, help us point others to You in a way that makes You more and us less.
