1 KING3:5
Every New Year, people make good resolutions, but they rarely keep them.
In 1755, John Wesley introduced the idea that Christians would renew their commitment to Christ each year with a covenant service. He used material from the writings of the 17th century Puritans, Joseph and Richard Alleine. The Methodist Church still uses it with modifications.
Wesley wanted to encourage people to open up to God, to take one more step each year in their continued conversion, a lifelong process for every disciple.
God invites us to grow in our devotion, to live each day effectively with Jesus, to learn to listen more attentively to His offer, to consider His challenge more seriously and to decide to leave room for His Spirit to guide us. This is to be seen as part of the life of faith that we explore with all the members of our Christian community.
🙏Lord help me to live everyday with You.
