HEBREWS 12:28-13:3
A US doctor’s 2023 report highlighted the “loneliness epidemic” due to increasing isolation and disconnect.
In 2018, the UK appointed a ‘Minister for Loneliness’, prompting questions about our response to this epidemic as followers of Christ.
The author of Hebrews states the unshakeable kingdom of God and the significance of worshipping Him with reverence, highlighting the confidence and security in His kingdom and Christ’s presence during loneliness.
Also, the writer encourages us to love one another as we would our own family and suggests extending this principle to all those around us.
Finally, we are reminded to be hospitable, as we do not know whom we are entertaining.
Christ, our Emmanuel, is present in our lives. May the neglected arts of closeness to God, love, and hospitality be a remedy for today’s loneliness.
