ALWAYS PERSEVERE!

2 TIMOTHY 3:10–15; 2 TIMOTHY 4:7

Joop Zoetemelk, the Netherlands’ most successful cyclist, demonstrated perseverance by winning the 1980 Tour de France, starting and finishing 16 times, and placing second five times.

Success often comes from a “never give up” mindset, but many people have lost opportunities due to giving up too soon in various aspects of life, such as family, education, friends, work, and service, emphasising the importance of perseverance.

Paul, an apostle, endured persecution and affliction, recognising that followers of Christ will face hardships. He encouraged Timothy to trust in God and the Scriptures, as it would help him overcome discouragement and maintain hope. At the end of his life, Paul declared that he had fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.

The Scriptures can help us push through our race, as our God is both promise-making and promise-keeping and will reward those who faithfully finish the race.
