PSALM 134
Three verses make up Psalm 134, but they show how simple things can have a big impact. It contains an admonition for the priests who devote their lives to serving in God’s house. The building was empty and dark at night, and it appeared like nothing significant was going on. Yet these ministers were urged to bless the Lord by raising their hands in the holy place (v. 2).
I consider the present-day servants of the Lord—pastors and their families who work in small churches in rural areas. Many may feel defeated, are tempted to give up, and are giving their all while their service goes unnoticed. They ponder whether anyone is interested in what they are doing, whether anyone ever considers them, prays for them, or regards them.
To them, as well as to anyone else who is feeling abandoned or unimportant, I would say: “While your location is small, it is a holy place.” The same God who created and sustains the universe is at work within and through you. Raise your hands in thanksgiving to Him.
🙏🏻 Lord Jesus, let us know that no matter our location, our lives leave an eternal impact on those we serve.
