A UNIQUE PURPOSE

MARK 1:16–22

Jacob Davis, a tailor during the Gold Rush in the 1800s, used tent cloth from a dry goods company owned by Levi Strauss to create blue jeans. This heavy, sturdy material, which was used for gold miners’ work pants, became the basis for denim jeans, which have since become one of the most popular clothing items globally.

Simon and his friends were fishermen on the Sea of Galilee when Jesus arrived and called them to follow Him. He gave them a new purpose, instructing them to fish for people, not just for fish.

Jesus trained these men with a new and unique purpose, enabling them to use the message of the cross, His resurrection, and His ascension. Today, we follow in their footsteps, sharing the good news of Christ’s love and salvation.

May we both proclaim and demonstrate this love that has the power to alter other people’s lives, goals, and eternal destinies.

🙏 Lord, kindly assist us to appropriately represent You so that others may come to know Your love and redemption.
