GENESIS 3:5-13,22-24
At the Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, huge crowds came in August 2013 to see the tropical plant known as the corpse flower bloom. Its flowering is a spectacle because the flower is indigenous to Indonesia and only blooms sometimes over a number of years. The enormous, spiky, gorgeous crimson bloom stinks like rotten meat after it has opened. The flower attracts flies and beetles that are searching for rotting flesh due to its foul scent. However, no nectar is present.
Sin makes promises but ultimately provides no rewards, much like the corpse flower.
Sin may seem alluring and even feel wonderful, but it cannot compare to the wonder, beauty, and fragrance of trusting and obeying God, who has created us to share His love with the world.
