A PRAYERFUL HEART

PSALM 27:7-14

A young mother tried to keep her children busy on the flight so they would not bother other passengers. The younger girl, Theresa, stopped what she was doing and bowed her head when the pilot’s voice was heard over the intercom. “Amen,” she muttered after the pilot was done. She believed the pilot was praying, maybe because of the recent natural disaster.

Like that small child, I desire a heart that instantly directs my thoughts to prayer. That kind of heart was evident in the psalmist David, I believe. Prayer and dependence on God were in the forefront of David’s thinking. Some say that David was remembering the time he was fleeing from Saul or from his son Absalom.

We also require a safe refuge. Perhaps reading or praying this psalm and others will help us get closer to our Father – God. We will more easily direct our hearts toward God in prayer as He becomes our sanctuary.

God can calm our minds and soothe our heart through prayer.

🙏Father, show me what it is to seek refuge in You.
