ISAIAH 33:17-22
Amy Carmichael, a renowned orphanage worker in India, experienced “moments of vision” during her work, as described in her book Gold by Moonlight, where she could see the vast land of far distances while standing still on the road.
Isaiah, the prophet, predicted a time when God’s rebellious people would return to Him, viewing a distant land and gaining an eternal perspective. This perspective allows us to see our lives from His perspective during difficult times, regaining hope. The Lord, as our judge, lawgiver, and king, will save us.
Every day, we have the option to look down in despair or lift up our gaze to the Lord, who is our Mighty One, and the land of far distances (v. 21).
For more than 50 years, Amy Carmichael worked in India, assisting underprivileged young women. How did she accomplish that? She fixed her eyes on Jesus and entrusted her life to His care every day. And we can, too.
🙏 Lord, today your people lift their eyes from the circumstances that discourage them to see you in your splendour and find peace.
