ROMANS 5:6–15
Excitedly, my son showed me a paper he had brought home from school, and his blue eyes shone. It was a mathematics test, with a perfect score of 100. He said that when the teacher announced that the allotted time had expired, he still had three questions unanswered. I was perplexed as to how he could have received a perfect score. “My teacher gave me grace,” he responded. “Even though I was short of time, she allowed me to complete the test.”
As I and my son discussed the concept of grace, I told him that God has provided more than we deserve through Christ. We deserve death due to our sin, but Christ died for us, allowing us to escape the penalty and live forever in heaven.
Eternal life is a divine gift, not something we earn through effort; we are saved through faith in Christ, as stated in Ephesians 2:8–9.
