For a time in his life, Asa, King of Judah, exhibited devotion to God. He cleansed his kingdom of idols, rebuilt the Lord’s altar, and led the people into a covenant with God. Asa’s son Jehoshaphat continued on his father’s legacy by seeking God and following His commands. Jehoshaphat cleansed the land of idol worship and dispatched priests and Levites to teach God’s law throughout Judah’s cities.
Jehoshaphat’s rule was similar to his father’s, in that he followed Asa’s righteous example. Even more importantly, his heart delighted in the Lord’s ways.
If you are looking for a father figure to emulate today, think of our heavenly Father and rejoice in His ways.
When we call God our Father and live as His Son, we honour His name.
