COLOSSIANS 3:12–17
Seven of us attended a crowded concert at a park. We tried to sit together, but a woman pushed us apart. My wife tried to stay with me, but the woman and her companions continued pushing into the row.
As we sat separately, we noticed the woman had a special needs adult, and she was also trying to keep her group together. Our irritation faded as we imagined the tough situation for her in a crowded place. We responded with compassion rather than anger.
Paul’s words in Colossians 3:12 can help us see others as people who need compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. He encourages us to clothe ourselves with these qualities and to bear with each other and forgive one another, as God’s chosen people.
Compassion allows us to point others to the One who has shown grace and compassion to us.
Compassion is all about understanding the troubles of others.
🙏Lord, may we mirror your heart by showing compassion to others.
