JAMES 1:16–27
That morning before a job interview, he confidently left home thinking he looked sharp. While waiting in the lobby, he caught his reflection in a glass door—coffee stains on his shirt! He had looked in the mirror earlier but had not noticed. How often do we glance but not truly see?
James uses a similar example to describe how we should approach Scripture. Like a mirror, God’s Word reveals what needs correction—our attitudes, words, and actions (James 1:23–24). But seeing is not enough. We must respond. When we take God’s Word seriously, it transforms how we speak (v. 26), how we care for others (v. 27), and how we live in a world full of distractions.
The Bible is more than information—it is a call to transformation. As we “look intently” into God’s truth and live it out, we become not just hearers, but doers, blessed in all we do (v. 25).
🙏 May the Lord Jesus Christ help you to be a hearer and doer of His word.
