1 KINGS 13:11–24
Her second child, Jane, wanted to sleep in a “big-girl bed” in her sister’s room. Each night, she tucked her in and reminded her to stay in bed, warning her about the crib. However, she often found her in the hallway and had to take her back. Later, she discovered that her sister did not want a roommate and misled Jane by saying she was calling for her.
Listening to the wrong voice can lead to problems. In the Bible, God sent a man to Bethel with clear orders not to eat or drink there or come back the same way. The man refused King Jeroboam’s invitation, but later ate with an older prophet who tricked him by claiming an angel said it was allowed. This disobedience saddened God, and he did not survive it, as he was killed by a lion.
God is fully trustworthy. We would be wise to pay attention to and follow His advice, as it is our road to success.
🙏 Thank You, Lord, for speaking to Your servants through Your Word. Help them to tune their ears to Your voice and obey.
