2 CORINTHIANS 2:14-17
Which of the five senses brings back the clearest memories for you? The sense of smell is unquestionably important to me.
Paul reminded the Corinthians that they are the pleasing aroma of Christ, possibly referring to Roman victory parades. The Romans burned incense on altars to signal their victory, while for prisoners, the aroma signified slavery or death. As believers, we are victorious soldiers, and the gospel of Christ is a pleasing fragrance to God when preached.
Christians bring the aroma of Christ into their lives through spending time with Him, as it helps them think and act like Him. Spending time with Jesus helps spread a pleasing fragrance to those around them, fostering a deeper connection with Christ.
🙏 Lord, shape our thoughts and actions so people may sense that we have been with You.
