JUDGES 7:1–8; ISAIAH 41:10
Ancient Babylonian soldiers were ruthless, resilient, and vicious, attacking other nations like eagles. They were powerful and proud, worshipping their combat abilities, and their strength was their god (Habakkuk 1:11).
God asked Gideon to reduce Israel’s number of men during their battle with the Midianites. He instructed him to release fearful men, and the army was downsized until only 300 men remained. This decision was made to prevent Israel from boasting about its own strength.
Israel was outnumbered. Their troops were fewer, but God granted Gideon’s forces victory.
At times, God may allow resources to dwindle, requiring us to rely on His strength. He promises to strengthen, help, and uphold us with His righteous hand (Isaiah 41:10).
🙏 I thank You, O God, for Your power. You support us when we are weak. Help us to credit You with all of our victories in Jesus’ name.
