PSALM 39:4-13
The “Tikker” wristwatch, which also calculates your predicted typical life expectancy and shows a running countdown of your remaining time, was developed in response to the difficulties in accepting that our time on earth is limited. The watch is described in the advertisement as one “that counts down your life, just so you can make every second count.”
David noted the shortness of his life in Psalm 39 (v. 4). He claimed that his life was only the breadth of his palm, a single breath to God, and nothing more (v. 5). David came to the conclusion that God was his hope (v. 7).
Time is running out. Now is the time to ask God for His strength to transform us into the people He desires. Having faith in our eternal God gives our daily lives purpose.
