COLOSSIANS 1:15-23; ROMANS 5:1
Many old churches were built to be calm, quiet places where people could compose themselves. They offer a pleasant respite from the chaos of the outside world.
Many people yearn for peace, and a brief period of stillness may be therapeutic. But the Bible asserts that the source of genuine peace—peace with God—is Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1). We are enemies of God without Christ because of our sin. Luckily, accepting Jesus’ sacrifice makes us right with God and puts an end to our hostility (Colossians 1:19–21).
Living in harmony with God does not guarantee a trouble-free existence. Yet it does keep us afloat when things are tough. We can experience the real peace of God because of Christ (Colossians 3:15).
When Christ rules the heart, the soul is flooded with peace.
🙏🏻In the midst of our turmoil, Father, we yearn for Your peace. Help us to rest in You.
