DEUTERONOMY 4:1-9
He has kept a file folder called “Speaking” for many years. It has accumulated a lot of articles, proverbs, and examples that could be helpful. He recently went through everything to get rid of outdated items. Not because he had not used them in a talk, but rather because he had not utilized them in practice, he found it difficult to discard many of the items. “These are not words to speak about; these are words to obey,” he concluded as he closed the folder.
After 40 years in the desert, Moses addressed the people who were about to enter the Promised Land, urging them to pay attention to the laws and regulations so they could obey them and enter and take possession of the land.
Speaking about things we do not truly do and speaking truths we do not live by is very easy. Forgetting that all of God’s directives emanate from His heart of love for us, we can become bloated with words while living in disobedience.
Our words and deeds should be as powerful as one another.
🙏🏼Help us, Lord, not to be just hearers of the Word; help us to be doers as well.
