YOU ARE FREE TO RETURN

NEHEMIAH 9:14-17

At the age of ten, James made the decision to follow Christ. His dedication had faded away after seven years. He developed some bad habits as a result of his live-for-the-moment ideology. Then his life seemed to crumble. He was having issues at school. Five relatives died almost at the same time. Apprehensions and uncertainties began to haunt him, and nothing seemed to improve matters – until one day, he returned to God for intervention, and God welcomed him.

James’ spiritual journey brings back memories of the days of ancient Israel. The Israelites had a special relationship with God because they were His chosen people. They spent many years, however, rebelling and disregarding His goodness, turning away to pursue their own course. However, when they returned to Him and asked for forgiveness, He was gracious and merciful.

God’s divine attributes encourage us to return to Him, even after we have strayed from Him. When we humble ourselves and rededicate ourselves to His ways, He will show compassion and welcome us back into His presence.

God’s welcoming arms are always open.

🤔🎶 Come home, come home;
you who are weary come home;
earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
calling, O sinner, come home!
