PSALM 38:8-11
Wrath is intense and often vindictive anger. It can manifest as an intention to punish or vengeance.
Despite the enormous unfairness of life, David prayed in Psalm 37 that he will not fight back but will instead rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him to bring justice in due time.
Our wrath tends to be vindictive and punitive. God’s wrath is untainted by self-interest and tempered by mercy. His wrath may not end up in what we may see as a punishment, but may bring our antagonists to repentance and faith.
We need to cease from anger, forsake wrath, and wait patiently for the Lord.
Revenge restrained is victory gained.
* Lord, help us not retaliate when people choose to fight us; instead, give us the strength and faith to show Your love and do what is right, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
