MATTHEW 21:28-32; 1 JOHN 3:18
The student realised at the conclusion of the term that he needed a higher grade in order to participate in sports. What was he to do? I gave him two days to finish the assignments he had missed in order to raise his grade. He replied, “I am grateful. I will carry it out.”
The last day for submission had been four days ago, but no papers had yet to be submitted. He did not follow through on his words with deeds.
Jesus described a young man who engaged in the same behaviour. The boy’s father requested that he help out in the vineyard. The son responded, “I go, sir” (Matthew 21:30). But he did nothing but talk.
More affection, respect, and praise are shown to God through our obedience to Him than through any hollow words we may utter to appear good.
Action is the fruit, while words are the blossoms.
🙏🏻 Father, help us to do Your will and not just talk about it.
