HEBREWS 13:17
Pastors are a common target for criticism. They are on display every week, painstakingly explaining God’s Word and urging us to live in accordance with the example of Christ. However, occasionally we search for something to criticise. It is simple to ignore all the good a pastor accomplishes in favour of our own preferences.
Like everyone else, our pastors are fallible. I am not advocating that we blindly cling to them and never confront wrong in the right way. Thoughts from the author of Hebrews may help us formulate the proper perspective on our leaders. The author advises us to respect and have faith in our leaders since they keep an eye on us as people who must give an account.
Keep it in mind. Our pastors have the duty to lead us spiritually before God. That burden ought to be joyful rather than burdensome. There would be no advantage in making the pastor sad.
Giving respect to those He has chosen to be our leaders shows we honour God and it benefits our church.
A good word from God’s people is necessary for pastors who preach God’s Word.
🙏🏼Lord, help Your people to provide encouragement and support, even as You protect pastors from error in both words and actions.
