HEBREWS 10:32-39
Homes in and around the central Texas community of Bastrop were destroyed by a raging wildfire at the beginning of September 2011. The headline of an article published a few weeks later in the Austin American-Statesman newspaper read, “People who lost the most, focus on what wasn’t lost.” The story discussed the community’s outpouring of charity and how individuals who received assistance discovered their community, friends, and neighbours were far more valuable than everything they had lost.
The author of Hebrews urged the followers of Jesus in the first century to reflect on how they had valiantly faced persecution at the start of their faith. Together with other Christians, they stood their ground in the face of abuse and insults (Hebrews 10:32–33).
Where our treasure is, our hearts will be there, according to what Jesus said in Matthew 6:21. Even our most prized assets can be carried lightly as long as we keep our attention on the Lord and all that we have in Him.
🙏🏻 Lord, open our eyes to see You and to embrace what is most important each day.
😊 WELCOME TO MAY 2023!
