2 CHRONICLES 20:1–13
In 1980, a woman hopped on a subway during the Boston Marathon, despite being supposed to be running. Witnesses later saw her jump into the race less than a mile from the finish line, finishing ahead of other female runners. For a brief time, she looked like the winner.
In a conflict, King Jehoshaphat faced a vast army from Edom, fearing defeat. Instead of traditional military tactics, he turned to God and acknowledged his own fear and confusion. He chose singers to lead the army, singing of God’s love instead of the war cry. This led to a startling turn of enemies against each other, and the kingdom of Jehoshaphat was at peace as God gave him rest on every side.
