MARK 6:30-32,45-47
As we had settled into our hotel room, my friend began fiddling with the TV. “What do you do if you can only receive one channel and you do not like what is on that one?” he questioned angrily.
I suggested, “You try turning it off.” That was not exactly the advice he had hoped for.
We simply need to “unplug” sometimes in order to turn everything off and give our thoughts a break. Jesus frequently took a break, especially when He wished to pray (Matthew 14:13). Jesus urged the disciples to take a break as well, even for a short while (Mark 6:31). For each of us, that kind of seclusion and quiet time is beneficial. We are able to get close to God during those times.
Follow Christ’s guidance and example. Go somewhere alone and “relax a while.” It will benefit the body, mind, and soul.
We can hear God clearly if we turn down the volume of life.
🙏🏻 Lord, help us turn off when it becomes necessary.
