TOO LATE TO MAKE CHANGES?

JOHN 3:1-8,13-16

There are proverbs regarding the difficulties of breaking long-held habits in many different languages. You cannot teach an old dog new tricks in English. In French, “Ce n’est pas à un vieux singe qu’on apprend a faire la grimace” (you cannot teach an old monkey how to pull a funny face). In Spanish, “El loro viejo no aprende a hablar” (an old parrot cannot learn to speak).

Nicodemus acknowledged that a new birth was necessary but felt too old to change when Jesus said that he must be “born again” to “see the kingdom of God.” His way of life was established.

With God’s power, it is never too late to make a change, regardless of our age or current circumstances.

Change is achievable because God is powerful.

🙏Father, old habits are hard to break, new ones are harder to learn. But all things are possible in Jesus’ name. Amen.
