1 PETER 2:11-17
Sometimes, when we try to build a fire, the wind blows it out. At other times, when we try to maintain a fire, the same wind keeps it going. As a result, in the first instance, we classify the wind as “bad” because it thwarts our intentions, whereas in the second, we classify it as “good” because it assists us in accomplishing our goal.
This paradox shows how we evaluate things on the basis of how they affect us. When circumstances or people disrupt our plans or bring us inconvenience, we label them “bad.” When we agree with them and they support our cause, we consider situations or persons to be “good.”
God, on the other hand, is the one who decides whether anything is good or bad, and He does it not based on how it affects our plans but on whether it accomplishes His.
We are to respect all people, love fellow believers, fear God, and reverence those who rule over us in order to fulfill God’s good purpose – even when something does not seem good to us (1 Peter 2:17). These kind of behaviours can instill faith in people who watch our reactions to “bad” situations and, most importantly, bring glory to God.
🙏🏼 When things look bad, Lord help us remember that You are good.
