THE WELCOMING HEART OF GALWAY

JOHN 16:13โ€“17

The welcoming heart of Galway is Saint Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, the largest medieval parish church in Ireland, established around 1320. It has a lengthy past as well as a present that is active. It is Ireland’s oldest church and offers guidance in a very practical way. Ship captains use the church’s tower as a landmark when sailing into Galway Bay since it towers over the town. This church has faithfully shown sailors the way home for generations.

The desire for direction is something that we can all relate with. Jesus also promised that the Holy Spirit would be very important in the lives of believers after He was gone. When He comes, He will guide them into all truth (John 16:13).

What an amazing provision! Guidance is highly needed in a confusing and dangerous world. The culture we are surrounded by and our own imperfections can easily lead us astray. But God’s Spirit is here to support, guide, and deliver. We can be grateful that the Spirit of truth has arrived to provide us with the direction we so frequently need. To find a safe harbour, we have to set our direction according to His guidance.

In every sea of life, the Spirit is a reliable guide.

Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah (Redeemer),
Pilgrim through this barren land.
I am weak, but Thou art mighty;
Hold me with Thy powerful hand.
