JAMES 3:1-12
Animals in the wild can now be trained by humans. Every species of animal, including birds, reptiles, and sea creatures, has been tamed by humans, as the apostle James made very plain (3:7).
However, there is something we cannot control. A tiny thing called the tongue is something that we all struggle to manage.
Why? Because even though our words may be merely on the tip of our tongues, they come from deep within us (Matthew 12:34). The tongue can therefore be used for both good and evil (James 3:9).
Is our untamed tongue going to be an issue for us every day since we cannot control it? By God’s grace, we are not left to struggle without help. The Lord will place a watchman at the entrance to our lips and over our mouths (Psalm 141:3). He is capable of controlling the untamed.
