PSALM 139:1-18
“Nathanael saith unto Him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.” (John 1:48)
Even before they met physically, Jesus knew Nathaniel. In the same way, you and I are well known by Him.
Psalm 139 is the Lord’s way of telling us, “I have been thinking about you!” We use that phrase most times in our conversation with others. It conveys warmth, concern, well-wishes, and often it stands as a euphemism for prayer. When we hear it we feel encouraged because someone cares, someone remembers, we are not forgotten.
The thought of God’s all-knowing presence thrilled David’s soul as he wrote Psalm 139.
God’s eternal mind is alive with thoughts of you – kind thoughts, precious thoughts, many thoughts. So many in fact, that they cannot be counted. More in number than the grains of sand. Think about that for a moment. How can you even begin to count them? You are the object of His concentrated focus. This is true at all times and in all places for all God’s people.
