ROMANS 15:1-7
A recognisable scene greeted ships as they entered the port of Savannah, Georgia, in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Florence Martus, or “The Waving Girl,” was there. For 44 years, Florence waved a handkerchief during the day or a lamp at night as she greeted the large ships from all over the world. In Savannah’s Morrell Park, a statue of Florence and her devoted dog now stands, permanently greeting incoming ships.
A warm welcome has a certain quality that communicates acceptance. Paul urged his readers to accept one another in Romans 15:7, just as Christ had accepted them.
More than just showing our affection for one another, accepting other Christians in Christ displays the enormous love of the One who has welcomed us forever.
