1 KINGS 8:54–61
A compass is useful for finding direction, but travellers still need to know how to follow it. Similarly, we may possess wisdom and experience, yet still lose our way without God’s guidance. His presence gives direction, strength and confidence for life’s journey.
In 1 Kings 8:54–61, Solomon blessed Israel after praying at the temple dedication. He praised God’s faithfulness and prayed that the Lord would remain with His people, incline their hearts towards Him, and help them obey His commandments. He also desired that all nations would know the Lord.
We must not rely solely on our abilities or past achievements. Seek God’s presence daily through prayer and His Word. Ask Him to direct your decisions, strengthen your obedience and make your life a witness to others.
