JOSHUA 1:1–9
It is believed (whether rightly or wrongly) that by 1865, Abraham Lincoln often turned to the Bible for strength during the American Civil War. Like many today who own Bibles but rarely read them, we sometimes leave God’s Word untouched, missing its power to guide and strengthen us in difficult times.
In Joshua 1:1–9, God commands Joshua to meditate on the Book of the Law day and night. Facing a daunting task, Joshua is assured of God’s presence and success—if he obeys and continually reflects on His Word. Scripture is not merely to be read, but to be lived.
We too must go beyond owning the Bible to engaging with it daily. As we read, meditate on, and obey it, we gain wisdom, courage, and direction for life.
🙏 May the Lord help you to love, read, and obey His Word daily. Amen.
