2 TIMOTHY 4:9-10
As I went on my way, I observed a few industrious ants busily going about their routine of carrying items to build. I thought to myself, there are much greater things happening around the world than the building of sand piles! But the fact is that the ants were in a world of their own – the ant world.
It is easy for us to get lost in the “ant world” – to be so busy with our routines that we miss the joy of personally embracing the bigger picture of God’s great work around the world or in our lives.
Our preoccupation with much less crucial matters reminds us of Paul’s report that Demas has forsaken him, having loved this present world (2 Timothy 4:10). Who knows if Demas regretted abandoning the gospel for the sand piles of this world.
Let us get out of the “ant world.” We should not allow smaller matters distract us from the bigger work of God around the world.
🙏Lord Jesus, give us open hearts to know which opportunities You want us to be a part of and wisdom in knowing how to go about them. Amen.
