JOHN 14:8-12
A young boy was drawing a portrait of God, according to a story I once heard. “You cannot do that – nobody knows what God looks like,” another boy said as he glanced over his shoulder.
“They will once I finish,” the boy replied.
People ask questions like: What is God like? Is He good? Is He kind? Does He really care? Jesus responded to Philip’s request to show them the Father by telling the disciples that anyone who has seen Him has also seen the Father (John 14:8-9).
Look to Jesus if you ever feel a hunger to see God. The Son is a picture of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). Read through the four biographies of Jesus found in the New Testament: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Consider what He said and did for a while. As you read, create a mental picture of God in your own mind. If you do, you will learn a thing or two more about who He is.
A close friend of mine once told me that the only God he could believe in is the one he saw in Jesus. He is the God that many have been looking for.
The more clearly we see God, the more clearly we see ourselves.
🙏🏼Oh God, may we continue to see You in Jesus.
