REST AS AN ACT OF TRUST

EXODUS 16:27–30

In 1968, John Stephen Akhwari fell and was badly injured during the Olympic marathon, yet he finished hours later. He explained he was sent to finish, not just start. His resolve showed that honouring an assignment is not about constant speed or activity, but faithful obedience to purpose. In the same way, God does not measure devotion by how busy we are, but by how well we follow His instructions—even when that means stopping to rest.

In Exodus 16:27–30, some Israelites disobeyed God by gathering manna on the Sabbath. Their actions revealed a lack of trust in His provision. God reminded them that the Sabbath was holy—a day set apart for rest, dependence, and worship.

Today, many chase productivity without pause. Yet honouring God means embracing His rhythm, including rest. When we deliberately stop and trust Him, we demonstrate faith in His sufficiency and open our hearts to His peace.

🙏May God grant you rest, trust, and abiding peace.
