1 KINGS 3:6–9
A young apprentice once received an important assignment. Instead of pretending to know everything, he asked his mentor to teach him what was needed. His humility helped him succeed. Responsibility becomes fruitful when we recognise our limitations and seek the wisdom to fulfil it well.
In 1 Kings 3:6–9, Solomon acknowledged that governing Israel was beyond his ability. He therefore asked God for an understanding and discerning heart to lead His people and distinguish between right and wrong.
Whatever responsibility God has entrusted to us, we must not treat it lightly. Let us seek wisdom, acquire the necessary skills, listen to godly counsel and depend on God rather than relying solely on ourselves.
