The physical is the tangible and concrete, not the perceived. Most people love playing mind games when it comes to God’s blessings and never get the tangible or real things. God in our text promised not just a spiritual but physical restoration – healing of the land.
Israel was in a dark and desperate situation like many nations and people today. They had fallen from grace and lost their way. They had actually chosen to go their own way and do their own things against the will of God because they felt they knew better. But the grass away from God was not greener. In fact, it was like poison. They were falling apart as a people, being attacked from all sides, and consumed by fear and fighting.
Finally, when they had hit rock bottom, they did something they had not done in a long time – they looked up to God. They realised God was watching over them the whole time, waiting for them to wake up. That was when God made them a plan and a promise.
Today’s Word is the solution for a comeback, turnaround or revival. Be humble, pray, and turn from wicked ways. Then God will forgive and heal. This is the pattern for a people or a single person who wants to turn things around physically. Remember it.
