PEOPLE ARE WATCHING

MATTHEW 5:13-16

A footballer’s team had a terrible season, losing week after week. A reporter asked him how he remained motivated to play hard and do his best even though his team was losing almost every game. He replied, “My dad and mom are watching the game. You better believe I will do my best!” He realised there was more at stake than winning or losing matches. His parents were watching and this reality prompted him to do his best.

Jesus reminded us of this reality in His Sermon on the Mount. We must live our lives realising that what we do is observed by those around us and that this visible life makes a statement about our God. Let the light of our lives shine by bringing the heart and character of Christ into situations that affect us all, showing compassion as He did for the marginalised or the forgotten, caring for the Father’s name and reputation.

People are watching us every day. The question is, what do they see?

🙏🏼Show us the way, Lord, let our lights shine.
