JUDGES 3:7-11
Reading through the Book of Judges can occasionally remind one of reading about superheroes from comic books because of the wars and powerful fighters it contains. Samson, Deborah, Barak, and Gideon are mentioned. Othniel is also featured among the judges (or deliverers).
The narrative of his life is short and simple (Judges 3:7-11). No fuss. No show of strength. But we can see what God accomplished through Othniel.
The story of Othniel helps us to focus on God’s actions, which is what matters most. This can be hidden by captivating tales and fascinating individuals, so we end up focusing on those and miss what the Lord is doing as a result.
To lead more people to Christ, we do not necessarily need to be more talented. This could lead us to focus on the wrong things. For His remarkable task, God frequently employs common people. It is God’s glory and others being drawn to Him by His light beaming through our life that matters most (Matthew 5:16).
It is more crucial that when people look at our lives, they see God and not us.
Our limited capability helps to showcase God’s limitless strength.
🙏🏼Lord, we pray for more of You and less of us.
