PSALM 92:14
Abraham was a hundred years old and Sarah was ninety when they had their son, Isaac. The birth of Isaac was and still is a testimony that God can make one fruitful even in old age. There is no seasonal limitation in fruitfulness when God is involved.
In the later verses of Psalm 92, the Psalmist reflects on the situation of godly people (92:12, literally, “the righteous”). They will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like cedars of Lebanon. The two trees pictured were valued for their fruit and wood, respectively. Their fruitfulness continues long after others have retired from productivity. With these the psalmist captures a sense of vitality, prosperity, and usefulness. When we see in our lives the budding and blossoming fruit of loving, sharing, helping, and leading others to Christ, we should be glad.
Even for those who may be labeled “senior citizens”, it is never too late to take root and bear fruit.
